Handling Procedure
Follow the procedure as below and handle with care.
Product Storage
Store in a sealed state against water or moisture at room temperature and avoid direct sunlight. Regarding product stability, powder products are stable for 1 year, while liquid products are stable for 3 to 6 months. Stability depends on storage conditions but please use as quickly as possible after opening.
When Handling
When handle powder products, wear safty equipment such as dust mask, safety glasses, and chemical gloves. If the product enters your eyes, flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical attention immediately. Flush skin with soap immediately in case of skin contact, while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. If the product spills on the floor, etc., the surface will become slippery. Ventilate room or area contains spill. Soak up spilled material with absorbent material such as paper towels, waste cloth, or sawdust. Use high pressure water to clean the ground.
Stability of the polymer solutions
It depends directly on the concentration of the solution and the quality of the water used for dissolution. The higher the concentration is the longer the deterioration time.
Dissolving Water
Please do not use water containing high amount of dissolved salts. Although hot water dissolves the polymers quicker, but please ensure the temperature is 40℃ or lower. For the cationic polymers, it is recommended that the pH of the solution shall be no higher than 5 ~ 5.5 to avoid the hydrolysis phenomenon of the cationic charges.
Dissolving Method
To make up the polymer solution efficiently, a powder hopper with dispersing device is recommendable when put the powder product into the dissolving tank. Also, an additional agitation tank is the best for maturating the solution to be prepared.
〈Dissolving Procedures〉
- Fill the fresh water into the dissolving tank with agitator, until the impellers are covered.
- Prepare the specified amount of powder product into the hopper, or liquid product into the measuring tank.
- While rotating the agitator at around 200 to 400 rpm, add the powder slowly or liquid product quickly, into the vortex created by the agitation.
- Fill the additional water up to the required level of the tank. Liquid product will be ready to dose in 15 ~ 30 minutes, while powder product requires 60 minutes minimum before making up is completed.
Compatibility of polymers with materials
A pH varies with the type of product, neutral to alkaline for anionics, acidic fir cationics. Polyethylenn is used for tank, piping, and other equipment, but the oil contained in emulsion products affect low density polyethylene. The materials used for the storage and handling of polymer products and the solutions of them shall be carefully selected.
